Why She Matters

The number of political staffers who qualify for profiles in Vogue are few and far between. But Abedin is no ordinary aide. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s longtime aide and ‘body person’ is famous for her style and her poise under pressure.
Abedin certainly faced plenty of it in summer 2011 when her husband, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) admitted having inappropriate electronic relationships with at least six women before and after their marriage (ceremony conducted by Bill Clinton) in July 2010. Abedin, who serves as Clinton’s senior adviser in the State Department, is legendary for her ability to guide former Sen. Clinton (D-N.Y.) through her jampacked days without a wrinkle in Abedin's Prada suits or a hair out of place.
